Coffee has become a huge cultural touchstone the world over. Not to mention an incredibly lucrative business. (Just ask the crew in charge over at Starbucks.)
And the world-wide coffee crazy has led some of the more creative folks in the coffee industry to try some inventive and wild experiments. As a result, you can find coffee infused with just about anything you can imagine.
One of the wildest coffees out there is called Kopi luwak. Guess how it’s made?
Civets, which are small rodents found in Asian + African (they like sort of a cross between a cat and raccoon), eat and then poop out coffee beans. Afterward, the partially digested beans are packaged up and sold for upwards of $50 per bag. Who woulda thunk, huh?
So, cannabis-infused coffee must be a thing too, right? We were wondering the EXACT same thing and the answer is… Yup! In fact, it turns out there are scores of cannabis coffee blends…
Everything from fancy brews to blends infused with Indica, Sativa, and hybrid strains to CBD-infused blends. There are even cannabis K-Cups (for those Keurig machine lovers out there).
In other words, when it comes to cannabis coffee, you can find it all.
But you don’t have to go the pre-packaged route, which, as you can probably guess, is none too cheap.
Instead, you can just brew your own cannabis coffee! And here’s a quick and easy recipe to help guide you…
How to Brew Your Own Cannabis Coffee
Ingredients
First things first, here’s what you’ll need to brew up your cup-a-cannabis coffee:
- 3 cups of water
- Your favorite coffee blend
- Butter (or coconut oil if you’re looking to go the Vegan route)
- About half a gram of cannabis (go with whatever strain strikes your fancy at the moment)
Preparation Instructions
Step 1 – Crush the cannabis (by hand or with a grinder).
Step 2 – Bring the water to a boil and add butter (or coconut oil).*
*Turns out butter (or coconut oil) is an uber-important ingredient! It binds the cannabinoids in the liquid and prevents the potency from being boiled off while simmering.
Step 3 – Allow the cannabis to simmer for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 4 – Strain out the cannabis leaves.
Step 5 – Use the resulting “cannabis water” to brew up a cup of coffee with your favorite blend.
And you’re ready to drink – Easy-Peazy Cannabis Coffee!
