DELICIOUS RECIPES TO GET YOU COOKING WITH CBD.

Hemp Tea Recipe

Preparation of hemp tea is very similar to any tea.

Take 1 teaspoon of dry hemp leaves per cup and pour hot water over it. Let it steep (soak in water) for two to  five minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea. Hemp tea has a very pleasant taste, like an herbal tea.

To activate cannabinoids consider using sugar or an additional fat like milk, butter, or coconut oil.  All are carriers of cannabinoids.  To get the full effect of hemp flower it is best to “decarb” it first.

Tea brewed with fresh mint leaves gets a sweet upgrade from CBD-infused honey.  Pour over ice for a relaxing refresher.

Hemp For a Party: Guacamole

Guacamole is full of fat but it is the healthy monounsaturated variety.  Add lime, herbs and CBD oil and you will have a dish that is both healthy and bursting with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium ripe Hass avocados, halved and pitted (peel removed)
  • Juice from 1 medium lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Splash of rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely diced
  • 2 small tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  •  tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 jalapeno, minced
  • 2 droppers of CBD Extract

Hemp Pesto Pasta

A pasta classic gets a CBD boost.

  • 1 pound dried pasta
  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts or almonds
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • One dropper of CBD Extract
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (more or less to taste)
  • 4 organic eggs

Preparation

In a food processor, add the basil and pine nuts (or almonds) and pulse a few times to combine. Add the garlic, Parmesan, salt, and pepper and pulse a few more times.

With the food processor running on low, pour olive oil and hemp extract in in a slow, steady stream. Continue processing until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. Set the pesto aside.

Bring a large pot of heavily salted water to a boil. Add your pasta and cook until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water.

Mix the pasta with the pesto while the pasta is still warm, adding in the reserved 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water to create a smooth sauce and tossing to coat.

Divide the pasta between four bowls and top with lemon zest and red pepper flakes.

Bring a small pot of water to a simmer. Working with one egg at a time, crack the egg into a small dish or ramekin. Using a spoon, stir the water vigorously to create a vortex, then gently slide the egg into the center of it.

Cook until the whites are just barely set but the center is still quite soft. Using a slotted spoon, carefully transfer each poached egg onto a bowl of pasta.

Vietnamese Lemongrass Hemp Burgers with Hemp

Serves 6-12 (as sliders)

Ingredients

  • ½ pound ground beef or pork
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh lemongrass (or if frozen thawed)
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 gram decarboxylated crumbled hemp flowers in oil or one dropper of CBD extract

Preparation

In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef with the lemongrass ,the CBD flower, the green onion, cilantro, garlic, oil, fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, salt and pepper, and mix well. Set aside and for 15 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

Build a hot charcoal fire or preheat a gas grill or the broiler. Divide the meat into 12 chunks and shape into a patty about two to three inches in diameter. Lightly roll the meat into a ball with very little pressure and then using a mayonnaise jar top to press down and shape burgers..

The less handling you do the better. Cook on the hot grill until browned and cooked thoroughly.. Never press down with a spatula. The marinade ensures that the burger remains juicy and is doesn’t stick.

To broil, place on a roasting pan and slide under a broiler until cooked.

Accompaniments: sweet chili sauce, ketchup or Vietnamese dipping sauce.

Lemongrass is becoming more available as Vietnamese food is better known. If you live near an Asian specialty market try to get a one-pint tub of frozen, chopped lemongrass. It is less expensive, shortens prep time and ready whenever you need it.

Making Your Own CBD Oil

You can make an infused oil from your CBD flower. The easiest way is to transport the activated CBD into something like butter or oil. To get started make sure the stove is set to an extremely low heat to ensure that the baked bud and oil/butter do not burn or bubble aggressively and allow to gently simmer for about 30 minutes. Once the bud and butter or oil have combined, strain the bud using a mesh sieve.

CBD Dosing

If you are on any  medication it is important to talk to your doctor to make sure that CBD will not have any adverse effect.
