Science is smashing all kinds of negative stigmas that were once thought about cannabis and the cannabis consumer.  Thanks to recent studies, people are re-learning everything they thought they knew about pot.  It is widely thought that “stoners” are “lazy, dumb, unproductive, unsuccessful and (my favorite) unhealthy”.  This couldn’t be farther from the truth and the world is starting to produce factual evidence to prove it.

Consumers of marijuana actually have stronger bones and a lower body mass index (BMI) than non-consumers.  According to the University of Miami, those who consume weed over five times a month have a lower BMI than non-consumers,

“Heavy users of cannabis had a lower mean BMI compared to that of never users, with a mean BMI being 26.7 kg/m in heavy users and 28.4 kg/m in never users.

Results show that daily female marijuana users have a BMI that is approximately 3.1% (p<0.01) lower than that of non-users, whereas daily male users have a BMI that is approximately 2.7% (p<0.01) lower than that of non-users.”

Lovers of cannabis who purpose it in their life regularly are more physically active than people who never use it or only periodically do.

Your body reaching homeostasis, achieving internal and external balance, is the side effect of regular cannabis intake.  The Journal of Biological Medicine published a study proving endocannabinoids (ECBs) are needed in the body to regulate homeostasis and naturally produced by the body.

“endogenous counterparts of cannabis, the ECBs, have been known for only the last 15 years, their discovery having been triggered by the identification of specific cannabinoid (CB) receptors in the brain.”

The brain has special receptors that use ECBs.  When there is an endocannabinoid deficiency the body will not be able to function properly and break down essential lipids, and proteins the body needs to be healthy. When these receptors are satisfied,

“chronic CB1R blockade in obese individuals with the metabolic syndrome resulted in weight loss.”

Proving that cannabis is the cure to obesity and a safe therapy for weight management with zero harmful side effects.  It is important to note that every person’s body has an endocannabinoid system.

What are some good strains to hit before hitting the gym?  According to Leafly that would be Sativa strains which are energetic and uplifting.   Harlequin is 75% Sativa dominant and has en earthy, mango flavor.  It’s CBD to THC ratio is 5:2 increasing your focus and alieving the pain of working out, along with the anxiety of it all, in the first place.

Cotton candy sounds like the most unhealthy thing to have before a workout, but not if its Cotton Candy Kush.  This fluffy, sweet, floral scented bud is recommended for enhancing your athletic enjoyment.  It is favored for its pain-numbing properties as well as Harlequin.

Pairing a good cannabis product with your workout is not only enjoyable but healthy for you!  There is science to prove it.  There goes everything your parents taught you about the “lazy stoner”.  Some people are just plain lazy, cannabis user or not.  The regular cannabis user has a better metabolism and stronger bones than the non though!  Will you question your productivity now that you know you SHOULD be hitting the ganja on the reg before a good workout?
