You know when you leave something for a while and you come back to it and you suck at it?
You’re rusty. You’re clumsy. You make rookie mistakes.
Thankfully, that didn’t happen.
You’re reading my first recipe – after a year-long break from cannabis photography and recipe development – and this one’s out of the park.
I can’t take any of the credit really.
They’re waffles.
With a pot leaf on them.
And did I mention they’re vegan?
And made with sprouted spelt?
Oh and they’re filled with cannabis.
The waffle just looks like a regular waffle maker on the outside, but creates magic on the inside.
Every cannabis waffle comes out festively stamped with a big cannabis leaf and looks beautiful topped with a little infused coconut oil fat bomb.
These are perfect for the 4/20 holiday coming up or… every single morning for the rest of your life.
I made this batch of waffles with cbd infused coconut oil because it’s kinda my jam right now. I’m putting it in everything these days. But you can use whatever ratio or dominant cannabinoid that you love.
And because I’m dedicated to getting better at this job every day, I also included a section below called “Dosage Info” so you can get the dosage right on these waffles the first time. I made these about 25mg CBD per huge waffle, but you can adjust the amount of CBD or THC in each waffle by cutting the infused oil with non-infused oil.
If I were to make these waffles with THC, I’d cut it way down and make each waffle a nice 5mg microdose (especially because I know I’d probably end up eating a handful throughout the day).
But it’s players choice.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups sprouted spelt flour
2 tablespoons coconut sugar
1 ½ tablespoons baking powder
⅛ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups non-dairy milk (I use coconut)
1 teaspoon vanilla
⅓ cup melted cbd oil or cannabis infused oil (CBD, THC or any ratio that works best for you) – see dosage info below
Method
- Whisk together dry ingredients. Incorporate wet ingredients.
- Turn on the waffle iron. Let the batter rise while the waffle iron heats up.
- Brush the waffle iron with a small amount of oil.
- If using the waffleye, about 1 cup makes a perfectly full waffle.
- Cook until golden. Keep on rack in warm oven until ready to serve.
- These are kickass freezer waffles. Just freeze separately on a rack. Store in an airtight container or ziplock. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven.
Unfortunately, these are not gluten-free, but they don’t mess with my belly and taste amazing. You’re so free to substitute gluten-free flour and try it out. Let us know in the comments what you used and how it went.
Recipe Dosage Info
This recipe makes approximately 4 – 25mg waffles.
In order to replicate that dosage, infuse 1 cup of coconut oil with 3.5g of 10% THC plant material (or 10% CBD plant material for CBD Waffles).
If using cannabis that contains more or less THC/CBD, use the dosage calculator and make adjustments to the dosage.
No matter what the dosage – when it comes to THC – always start low and go slow when using a new recipe.
